NEW YORK (AP) — U.S. stock indexes are slipping Thursday amid more turbulent trading.

The S&P 500 slipped 1% in afternoon trading after earlier rising as much as 0.6%. The market's moves have been erratic this week, with stocks repeatedly swinging between gains and losses . The Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 373 points, or 0.8%, as of 2:38 p.m. Eastern time, and the Nasdaq composite fell 1%.
