Qualicum Beach set a new record of -1 C on Oct. 14, according to Environment Canada.
The previous record of -0.5 C was set in 1992.
Records in the area have been kept since 1962 and are measured at the Qualicum Beach Airport.
Records for cold temperatures were set in 22 communities across B.C.: Bella Bella, Blue River, Cache Creek, Campbell River, Castlegar, Clinton, Gibsons, Golden, Kamloops, Kitimat, Lillooet, Merritt, Nakusp, Port Alberni, Port Hardy, Powell River, Salmon Arm, Sechelt, Sparwood, Vernon and Whistler.
In Fort Nelson, a new warm temperature of 19.4 C was set, beating the old mark of 19 C, set back in 1937.
