LUBBOCK, Texas--While most people associate snowfall with the heart of winter, history tells a different story. In some years, snow has arrived as early as mid-October, and even in April according to the National Weather Service.

Since record-keeping began during the 1911–1912 snow season, the timing of snowfall events has varied widely, with early flurries surprising residents in mid-October and snowflakes lingering well into April.
