LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Louisville’s Inspector General received an essential vote of confidence from Mayor Craig Greenberg.

Greenberg nominated Edward Harness for a second 4-year term as the city’s independent watchdog over the practices and policies of LMPD. Supporters of Harness got the answer they had been seeking for months.

“Under Ed Harness’s leadership, the office of Inspector General has provided crucial independent oversight of LMPD,” a statement from the Louisville Urban League said, “and he has served with integrity and fairness during some of the most challenging years in our city’s history.”

The final decision on Harness’ employment rests with Louisville Metro Council.
