Lease could begin as soon as Nov. 1

PROVIDENCE – Apple Cinemas will replace Showcase Cinemas at the Providence Place mall , contingent on court approval.

Receiver Mark Russo had previously filed a motion to terminate the lease with Showcase Cinemas after learning the company didn't plan to renew its lease for the 16-screen theater and adjacent IMAX screen, which is set to end in January.
