CALDWELL, Texas (KETK) -- The Caldwell Zoo announced this morning that their beloved puma, Monte, passed away.

Monte was rescued by the Oregon Department of Fish and Game and taken to the Oregon Zoo for care. Caldwell Zoo worked with the Oregon Zoo and was eventually able to bring Monte in to raise and give him a forever home in 2009, when he was only about two months old.

"Monte was sixteen years old at the time of his death, and we couldn't be more proud of providing him with a long and happy life," The Caldwell Zoo said. "We're glad we got to experience and share his stellar personality with our community, and he will be greatly missed."
