Mason Heintschel has recently been making headlines with his first two starts at Pitt. The Panthers look much more dangerous with him as the starting QB. In his first start, the 18-year-old true freshman not only defeated one of the league’s weakest teams, but he really overwhelmed Boston College 48-7, passing for 323 yards, four touchdowns, and completing 73% of his throws. In his second start against No. 25 Florida State, he led his team to a 34-31 win .

The Ohio native formally signed his letter of intent to Pitt back in December 2024 and formally committed to the Panthers in March. One of the main reasons he chose Pitt was the offensive coordinator, Kade Bell.
