The University of Northern Colorado football team has a big game this week.

Let that sink in for a moment. The Bears are playing an important game.

It’s been a bit since UNC fans could soak in that reality. UNC beat nationally ranked Idaho last weekend on the road. The win led to the team receiving votes for a Football Championship Subdivision poll for the first time in the Division I era. Receiving votes means the Bears, never more than a .500 team at the FCS level, sat just outside of the top 25.

The team won just one game in the 2023 and 2024 seasons combined.
