CLEVELAND, Ohio – Library and park districts are so popular that when a dozen of them took tax issues to the ballot across Ohio this spring, all 12 passed — most by wide margins. A year ago, voters approved 38 of 47 library and park taxes statewide.
But those votes — and the money that goes with them to pave trails, buy books and provide an array of other widely popular services — would be wiped out if backers of a petition drive to abolish property taxes in Ohio have their way.
