WHEELING - The Washington High golf team earned a second-place finish at the Class AAAA state golf tournament on Wednesday at the Jones Course at Oglebay Resort’s Speidel Golf Club in Wheeling.

The Patriots, who led the team competition by five strokes, finished with a final total of 471, eight shots behind champion Hurricane, which had winning score of 463. The rest of the field included George Washington (486) in third, Wheeling Park (493) in fourth, Cabell Midland (497) in fifth, University (508) in sixth, Parkersburg South (519) in seventh and Morgantown (523) in eighth.
