PIERRE PART, La. (WAFB) - An investigation is underway after three people were shot in a deputy-involved shooting in Assumption Parish.

The Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office says one of their deputies shot an individual who opened fire on them as they were responding to a shooting call.

Sheriff Leland Falcon was grazed in the shooting, but is on scene and is expected to be okay. The sheriff’s office says Falcon was one of the first deputies to respond to a shooting call just before 3 p.m. at home in the 600 block of Bayou Drive regarding a complaint.

Officials confirm two people were sent to the hospital via AirMed to the Lake. One of the deputies who also responded was not injured.

State Police are being called in to take over the investigation.
