WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Fire damaged a vacant house in Arkansas City on Thursday.

It happened about 10:30 a.m. at a small home on North Eighth Street near Walnut Avenue.

Firefighters arrived to find a corner of the house on fire, with flames extending into the attic. The fire was contained within five minutes, according to Arkansas City officials.

No one was inside the home at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported. The city said neighbors told fire officials that the house had been vacant for weeks.

The house had heavy damage, with at least half of the home destroyed, fire officials said.
