A former Daphne-based doctor previously convicted of unlawful distribution of prescription drugs is now facing perjury charges following an attempt to change his name and leave the country, according to the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office.

Rassan Tarabein, 66 , was arrested on Wednesday, Oct. 15 by MCSO deputies and charged with five counts of second degree perjury, which is a misdemeanor, according to Mobile County Metro jail records . He bonded out of jail the same day.
