The Karnataka government has increased the dearness allowance (DA) for its employees from 12.25% to 14.25% of basic pay, according to an official order issued ahead of the Diwali festival.
The revised rate will be applicable from July 1 and will cover both serving employees and pensioners, the state finance department said.
This is the second DA revision in the current financial year. In May, the allowance was raised from 10.75% to 12.25%.
Similar revisions have been announced in other parts of the country. A few days earlier, the Arunachal Pradesh government approved a 3% hike in DA, increasing it from 55% to 58% for state employees and pensioners, also effective from July 1.
