The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested Harcharan Singh Bhullar, a 2009-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer in connection with a bribery case involving an alleged demand of ₹8 lakh.

Currently serving as Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Punjab's Ropar Range, the officer was apprehended alongside a private individual identified as Krishna, who was reportedly acting as a middleman, CBI said in a statement on Thursday, Oct 16.

Raids at various locations in Punjab and Chandigarh linked to the DIG led to a major recovery. Officials seized approximately ₹5 crore cash (and counting), 1.5 kg of jewellery, and documents related to immovable properties.
