Another true crime documentary is debuting on Netflix just in time for the weekend.
Directed by Geeta Gandbhir, "The Perfect Neighbor" tells a story about one neighbor's "relentless harassment" that takes a sinister turn when it "escalates into a fatal crime," the Netflix description states.
“The Perfect Neighbor is a deeply personal project, created to transform grief into purpose and honor the lasting legacy of Ajike Owens and her family,” Gandbhir told the streaming service. Owens was a Black woman who was fatally shot by her white neighbor, Susan Lorincz, in June 2023 in Ocala, Florida.
Here's what we know about "The Perfect Neighbor."
When does 'The Perfect Neighbor' premiere on Netflix?
The documentary will be available on Friday, Oct. 17, at 3 a.m. ET.
'The Perfect Neighbor' uses body camera footage
"The Perfect Neighbor" uses recorded video to tell the story of the case, which Gandbhir praised as "urgent and powerful." The streaming service said the film "confronts viewers with the stark realities of 'stand your ground' laws," contentious self-defense legislation that varies by state.
"Using police bodycam footage to reveal in-the-moment conversations between law enforcement and neighbors, the film illustrates the impact of these controversial yet widely common laws," Netflix says.
