Thursday’s debate is a pivotal night in Virginia’s race for attorney general with Democratic candidate Jay Jones under fire since text messages resurfaced in which he mused about shooting a political rival. It’s been a boost for Republican incumbent Jason Miyares and could help the entire GOP ticket.
In his only televised interview since the text story broke, Jones apologized and said he was ashamed and embarrassed about the violent acts he described in texts to a Republican delegate when Jones was in the Virginia House in 2022.
