LAUREL, Md. — A Prince George’s County man pleaded guilty to illegally dumping 55-gallon drums of cooking grease into a dead-end street in Laurel, prosecutors announced on Wednesday.

The investigation was started after a person told the authorities that a man was visiting a dead-end on Van Dusen Road once a week in the early morning hours and dumping two drums of a substance.

On Aug. 23, 2023, investigators saw a dark green F-350 truck carrying two large drums down Van Dusen Road into the dead end.

The officers approached a man they later identified as 67-year-old Philip Robinson of Laurel. He told them he was dumping “grease traps,” and later clarified that it was cooking oil.

The oil was then draining into Indian Creek.
