A 63-year-old man accused of killing his passenger in a multi-vehicle collision in Riverside while fleeing from narcotics officers trying to arrest him for a drug transaction must stand trial for gross vehicular manslaughter and other offenses, a judge ruled Thursday.

Ezequiel Avendano Lopez of Riverside allegedly caused the death of the 49-year-old woman, identified in court documents only as “A. Gonzalez,” and injured other parties at the end of the chase last October.

Following a preliminary hearing at the Riverside Hall of Justice Thursday, Riverside County Superior Court Judge Francisco Navarro found there was sufficient evidence to bound Lopez over for trial on the manslaughter count, as well as assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer, transportation of drugs for sale, poss
