Penelope Milford, the acclaimed actor best known for her Academy Award-nominated role in “Coming Home” and the cult classic “Heathers,” died on Tuesday at the age of 77.

Milford died at an assisted living facility in Saugerties, New York, according to People . Her cause of death has not been revealed.

The actor achieved her most significant recognition for her performance as Vi Munson in Hal Ashby’s “Coming Home.” In the 1978 movie, Milford played the roommate of Jane Fonda’s character, Sally Hyde, a role that earned her an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress.

Throughout her career, Milford worked both on screen and on stage.
