The new cabinet will be sworn in at 11:30 AM on Friday in Gujarat's capital Gandhinagar. On Thursday, all 16 ministers of CM Bhupendra Patel's cabinet had resigned.
This reshuffle is being linked to preparations for the 2027 assembly elections in the state. According to information, new faces may be included in the cabinet, and 2 Deputy CMs may also be appointed.
The Gujarat cabinet had 17 ministers including the CM, which included 8 cabinet ministers and 8 Ministers of State (MoS). Now this number will increase to 26. MLAs who came from Congress to BJP may also become ministers.
There are 182 MLAs in the Gujarat Assembly. Considering the maximum limit of 15% of the total number, there can be a total of 27 ministers including the CM.
