TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Construction will begin soon on the West River BUILD Project, a more than $56.8 million initiative designed to connect neighborhoods along the Hillsborough River and expand public access to the waterfront, according to the City of Tampa.
City leaders, along with design-build "Haskell," held a public information meeting Thursday night to inform the public of the construction timeline and take questions and comments.
Officials said construction will begin in Nov. 2025.
The project will create a multi-use trail spanning 12.2 miles across the city, including a two-mile Riverwalk on the west bank of the river.
The trail will link West Tampa, Ridgewood Park, Hyde Park, Bayshore Boulevard, the North Franklin Street Historic District, Downtown Tampa, and Ybor City.
