RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) - Virginia’s attorney general candidates faced off Thursday night in their first and only debate at the University of Richmond, with controversial text messages dominating voter discussions before and after the event.
The audience was made up of people of all ages including college students, lawmakers, and community members, leading to a sold out event as many were curious to see how the candidates would respond to recent hot topics.
“I kind of wanted to see how Jay Jones reacts to the text message thing,” University of Richmond student Tyler Kennedy said before the debate. ”I mean, I’m going to still vote for him because I think that the Republicans are not going to do what’s best for the state."
