MONROE, La. (KNOE) - A single car crash in Morehouse Parish has claimed the life of 80-year-old Maris Johnston. The crash took place on Highway 599 near Bernie Turner Road just after 3 p.m. Thursday.

Johnston’s vehicle overturned after veering off the road and hitting an embankment in the process. Johnston was not buckled up and suffered serious injuries. She succumbed to her injuries after being transported to the hospital.

Louisiana State Police says no impairment is suspected at this time, but the investigation is ongoing.
