The SNP has warned the UK Government it cannot brush the Michelle Mone scandal "under the carpet" after a firm linked to the shamed Tory peer failed to repay £145m this week. ‌

PPE Medpro - a company founded by Mone's husband Doug Barrowman - was ordered to pay up by 4pm on Wednesday after it lost a High Court battle over a Covid contract worth £122million. With interest, the bill is now £145.6million and rising. ‌

Mone referred the company to the then Conservative government through its controversial Covid VIP lane in 2020. She denied any involvement in the firm but it later emerged she and her husband had benefited from £65million in profits from it. ‌
