A Shirley cricket club is now able to sell alcohol for longer after settling a dispute with Solihull Council out of court.

The club pushed for the change saying it was needed to compete against other licensed venues “on a level playing field”.

As the Local Democracy Reporting Service previously reported licensing bosses at the authority considered Moseley Cricket Club’s licence at a hearing a year ago.

The club originally applied for permission to sell alcohol between 11am and 2am Friday and Saturdays.

But nearly 30 residents objected to the Streetsbrook Road venue’s application with some even appearing at the meeting of the authority’s Licensing
