A company with ties to a Chicago-based real estate development firm has purchased two vacant commercial parcels in Jackson Township for $1.1 million, according to the latest real estate transfers filed with the Stark County Auditor's Office.

Canton Aal LP purchased properties on Higbee Avenue NW and Munson Street NW from Holy Cross Lutheran Church LCMS. State registration records show that the new owner is affiliated with Vermilion Development , the website of which describes the company as "Midwest specialist in community-oriented mixed-use projects and public-private partnerships."

Two agricultural properties totaling more than 21 acres in Tuscarawas Township also sold for $1.02 million.

This week's transfers cover Sept. 20 to Sept. 26.
