Michigan's first-ever chief growth officer Hilary Doe , appointed by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer about two years ago to focus on reversing the state's sluggish population growth, recently left her post in state government to start a new venture.
Doe said she is starting the Michigan Institute for Growth & Opportunity or MI-GO, a new initiative she says will be the first statewide organization focused on population growth that will research the issue and help communities develop strategies to grow. Doe said the state government's work on growing Michigan's population over the last couple of years represents "the most ambitious population growth effort in the state's history" and her next step will ensure that work outlives one administration.
