The University of New Orleans unofficially opens its 55th basketball season on Saturday at 1 p.m.

The Privateers will play an exhibition game against Sacramento State at Lakefront Arena, and this won’t be your typical scrimmage.

The Southwest Shootout, as it is being called, will be a star-studded affair, with UNO hoops general manager Percy “Master P” Miller in attendance along with Sacramento State front men, Shaquille O’Neal (general manager) and Mike Bibby (head coach).

Local hip-hop artists Teezy and Mr. Trip Out will entertain the crowd with a halftime show.

The famed Marching 100 band from St. Augustine High School will perform throughout the game.

And more than 4,000 students from area middle schools are expected to attend.
