A Scottish family firm of fish and chip restaurants is planning to convert a shop in Newcastle city centre into its first site in England.
Blue Lagoon already has a string of sit-in eateries north of the border, which have welcomed everyone from Scotland football players to celebrity chef Nigella Lawson and singers Lewis Capaldi and Justin Bieber.
Now the company has its eye on a site close to the Bigg Market, which it plans to turn into a restaurant for 56 diners, alongside an adjoining takeaway.
The lease will soon be up for Dicksons, currently trading from the site on 77 Grainger Street and part of 4 Newgate Street - the latter being unused floorspace in the former Berketex Brides store - a portion of which is where Chilliflames Afro-Portugese restaurant currently trades.
