SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - As excitement builds for this weekend’s big matchup between Notre Dame and USC, the spirit of legendary coach Knute Rockne lives on in South Bend.
Rockne envisioned the Notre Dame-USC rivalry over a century ago, and now a local couple is maintaining his legacy not only on the field, but through the restoration of his home.
This structure was Rockne’s home from 1920-1929. After being moved from Saint Vincent Street to Foster Street, it was purchased by and is now being lovingly restored by Keenan and Sean McFadden (son of longtime WNDU anchor Terry McFadden) — two Harter Heights natives and third-generation Notre Dame graduates.
“I, as a good Domer, said, ‘Yes, we have to buy Knute Rockne’s house. Of course we do. I don’t even need to look at it,’” Sean said.
