SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - The teen who was convicted of the 2021 murder and molestation of a 6-year-old New Carlisle girl will spend another year in juvenile detention before his next reevaluation.

Anthony Hutchens was handed a 64-year suspended sentence in March of 2023 for murdering and molesting Grace Ross. Hutchens was 14 at the time of the murder and 16 at the time of his sentencing.

He’s been earning the time served for his murder sentence at the juvenile detention facility, but his case was set for reevaluation now that he is 18.

That reevaluation could have gone in several directions, from having Hutchens continue his sentence at the juvenile facility until he ages out at 21, to moving him to an adult facility for the remainder of his sentence, to placing him in community corr
