Alaska Lt. Gov. Nancy Dahlstrom recently announced her official entry into the governor’s race as a Republican candidate, months after filing with the Alaska Public Offices Commission.

Dahlstrom joins a crowded race of 12 other Republicans and Democratic candidate Tom Begich, a former state senator.

She told the News-Miner in a recent interview that she sees potential bright spots for Alaska, but it will need the right leadership.

“We have things that are happening that are potentially going to be huge projects for the state, and I think that we need good planning,” Dahlstrom said. “We need to continue to look for ways to continue growing our state.”
