PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – The Portland Fire has announced their new head coach.

The team shared that Alex Sarama will lead the team during their on-court debut in 2026, saying he represents the “next generation of coaching.”

Sarama recently served as the assistant coach and Director of Player Development for the Cleveland Cavaliers. Before that, he held several other coaching and player development roles with London Lions, Paris Basketball, the Rip City Remix, and NBA EMEA.

Portland Fire executives said he is a leading voice in modern player development.
