YORK COUNTY, Pa. — Lieutenant David Godfrey, a York County Sheriff’s Deputy who was shot and critically wounded last month, is finally home.

Godfrey walked out of WellSpan Surgery and Rehabilitation Hospital on Thursday afternoon after weeks of intensive therapy and care. The lieutenant’s release marks a major milestone in his recovery following the shooting that also claimed the lives of fellow officers Cody Becker, Mark Baker and Isaiah Emenheiser while serving a search warrant in North Codorus Township on Sept. 17th.

“I want to thank everyone for their prayers and support,” Godfrey said. “I could not have pulled through without it. It meant so much to me, and, on a personal note, it’s very humbling. When you do this job, you do it because you just want to help.”
