LONDON (AP) — A spokesman says British Prime Minister Keir Starmer is “angered” by the decision to ban fans of soccer team Maccabi Tel Aviv from attending a game at Aston Villa and the government is working urgently to overturn it.
Starmer spokesman Geraint Ellis says senior officials are meeting with police and others, and an update is expected later Friday.
He says police “have made the wrong call” and “everyone should be able to attend a football match without fear of violence or intimidation.”
