More than a decade after Tom Cruise’s Edge of Tomorrow turned a Japanese sci-fi novel into one of Hollywood’s smartest action blockbusters, the source material is finally getting its own proper adaptation — and it looks stunning.
Following its U.S. premiere at New York Comic Con, the All You Need Is Kill anime film has dropped a breathtaking new trailer, confirming a limited theatrical run across Japan beginning January 9, 2026. The movie will play in just ten theaters at launch, with early screenings planned for the Animation Is Film Festival, the Bucheon International Animation Film Festival, and several others around the world. A wider international release hasn’t been announced yet, but given the buzz coming out of NYCC, it’s only a matter of time.
