An investigation continued Friday into a Jurupa Valley collision involving a motorcycle that killed a 23-year-old man.

Deputies responded to a report about 7:20 p.m. Wednesday in the area of Market Street and 24th Street regarding a major-injury collision, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department. They found a motorcycle rider, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Riverside County sheriff’s coroners office identified the rider as Daniel Melgar of Ontario.

The driver of the other vehicle remained at the scene and was cooperative with investigators.

The agency stated, “It appears alcohol and/or drugs were a factor in the collision.”

It was unclear which person was under the influence, but no arrests were immediately reported.
