A man and woman from Toronto were arrested on drug charges after cleaning staff at a Niagara Falls hotel found a loaded handgun in a room the two had just vacated and called authorities.
On Thursday, Niagara Regional Police were called to the hotel on Ferry Street near Main Street.
Officers found the loaded and prohibited .25 calibre gun, which had a round in the chamber.
Police said the occupants of the room had just vacated and had relocated to another room in the same hotel. Officers arrested them and found the man in possession of eight grams of suspected crystal methamphetamine and $1,710 in cash. The woman was carrying $200 in cash.
