Niagara Regional Police are investigating a shooting in St. Catharines after a 26-year-old man was found suffering from a gunshot wound.

Late in the evening on Friday, Oct. 17, Niagara police in a press release said officers were called to a plaza on the corner of Vine Street and Old Pine Trail after reports of a man being shot.

After arriving at the scene and finding the man, he was transported to an out-of-region trauma centre.

“Those injuries are considered to be critical but not life threatening,” said police.

Detectives believe this was a targeted incident.

“Early information is that two male suspects are involved. Both suspects were wearing masks,” said the release. No further suspect descriptions are available at this time.
