A cold front is set to arrive Saturday, bringing much-needed rain to the region.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms will develop by mid-morning and continue through the afternoon, exiting by early evening.

Some of these storms could turn severe, with hail and damaging winds as the main concerns. The Storm Prediction Center has areas north and east of Dallas included in a level 2 risk for severe weather.

This rain will be a welcome sight for much of the area. Drought conditions have expanded in the last few weeks.

Since this will be the first rain for much of North Texas since September 24th, the built-up oils on the roads will make for slick conditions.

If you haven’t already, download the NBC DFW app to stay ahead of the storms.
