Delays with the rehabilitation of the Wheatley water plant mean temporary treatment trailers will remain until November, the Chatham-Kent Public Utilities Commission heard on Thursday.
In a brief verbal update during the virtual meeting, Darren Galbraith, the utility’s general manager, said filter work is still needed before the plant can be brought online again.

He said the best course of action was to keep the trailers onsite.
“We decided to keep the temporary outdoor water treatment plant going until then, in November,” he said. “Until we feel we’re in a good spot to get the water plant operating.”
At a meeting last year, commissioners heard the temporary system operates with two water treatment trailers that are rated for eight million litres a day.
