People are protesting the appointment of Middletown police officer Connor Reinsch, a former New Britain cop who struck and killed Katherine Colon in 2023 while responding to a call.

He was never charged, but the woman's family has concerns. Thursday’s protest drew support for both the family and the officer.

There was anger as Colon's family led a protest in Middletown. Colon was struck and killed two years ago by then-New Britain police officer Reinsch while responding to a call.

“If he did it once, what makes it seem like he won’t do it again?” Maribel Rodriguez, Colon’s eldest daughter, said.

She was furious to learn Reinsch has been working for the Middletown Police Department since August.
