MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - Shelby County Mayor Lee Harris is declaring a State of Emergency in response to the Memphis Safety Task Force presence in the Memphis area.
This declaration comes a few weeks after President Trump’s announcement to which led to the creation of the Memphis Safety Task Force which included several agencies like the National Guard. MTSF began operating on September 29 in the city.
In the document, Harris claims that the Memphis Task Force presence has placed a strain on the Shelby County’s financial resources:
