BROOKLYN, New York (WABC) -- Police in Brooklyn are investigating the discovery of a man's head and torso in a garbage bag on Friday.

The bag was discarded in the trash receptacle in front of an East 21st Street apartment building just before 9:15 a.m.

The superintendent of the building saw a tenant who placed several bags in the trash on Friday.

"I just see a lot of flies. I don't know what's going on. I just see a lot of flies. A lot of flies flying around. It's crazy," Danielle, a resident, said.

Sources say that man is the roommate and boyfriend of the man found dead and dismembered.

His torso and head were found in a blue trash bin, wrapped in plastic, officials said.

It was a crew repairing the street who smelled it first.
