The Mitchell District Blue Devils won their fourth Huron-Perth baseball championship in the last five years on Wednesday after a 7-6 win over St. Mike’s.
Much like their Blue Jays’ brethren in the major leagues, the Blue Devils utilized their depth to pull out the victory, getting contributions from up and down the lineup when they needed it most.
“I’m so proud of these guys because we had to rebuild this year,” said Mitchell coach Rick Boon, who added afterwards that he thought he had the team to ‘four-peat’ a year ago before the team stumbled down the stretch and was ousted in the Huron-Perth quarter-final by Stratford District.
