PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. ( WWSB ) — A judge has ordered a competency hearing for the man deputies said called 911 after admitting he shot his wife to death.

The judge granted a defense motion for a full competency examination of Rogelio Prestel. Prestel is charged with murder in the death of his wife in late January.

Prosecutors say the shooting was over an argument about cheating. Investigators say Prestel confronted his wife at their Port Charlotte home after finding something on her phone.

Deputies say Prestel grabbed his gun and began shooting at her before calling 911. Two children were inside the home but were not harmed.

A hearing on the results of the competency examination is set for November 25th.
