It’s been two years since Alison Sweeney began to get heavily involved in Bozeman politics amid the uproar over a proposed rewrite of the unified development code.

Sweeney, 44, grew up in Bozeman and built a career in metal-smithing and renewable energy. She lives in an off-campus neighborhood west of 11th Avenue between College and Main streets.

Sweeney’s attention was caught when the city released its UDC draft in 2023, which angered many residents and caused the city to hit pause on the project
