TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) - Florida A&M University honored its former president, Dr. Frederick Humphries, with a statue unveiling Friday morning.
Dr. Humphries served as president of FAMU for 16 years. During his time, he is credited with leading the institution to national prominence through aggressive growth and academic distinction.

A legacy, his son says, the statue represents.
“His commitment to FAMU was unwavering; it was constant,” he said. “This statue is more than a bronze and stone statue; it’s a symbol of his enduring spirit. And I think that is what really is important and what I want to leave you with. It’s about the spirit.”
The statue is in front of Lee Hall, and on full display for all in town for Homecoming to see this weekend.
