PORTLAND, Ore. - The Oregon Health Authority (OHA) has issued an alert following the detection of measles in a Marion County wastewater sample. This discovery highlights the importance of staying vigilant against potential outbreaks.
According to OHA, the positive sample was collected on Oct. 6 from a wastewater treatment plant. This indicates that at least one person with measles was in the area serviced by the plant. OHA and Marion County health officials are urging health care providers to monitor for measles symptoms and ensure patients are up-to-date on vaccinations.
